At the beginning of summer 2018, Lucien Barbeau on vacation in the Canadian Maritimes awaits the ferry in Pictou heading toward Prince Edward Island. He is pleasantly surprised to come upon a Campwagon camper in a very good condition. This is when he meets its owner, a charming lady who touched Lucien’s heart by the passion she still vows for her vehicle. Lucien keeps being astonished that such campers have been on the roads for over thirty years. The idea was then formed to launch this website aiming at offering fans of Campwagon, the opportunity to to share happy memories.
Still friends, the former business associates and founders, Johan Roy and Lucien Barbeau then started searching through their souvenirs to find pictures, brochures and news articles. Since Campwagon operated from the end of the sixties to the early nineties, the documents found are in paper format and often show their time. We hope that these images, sometimes blurred, will still allow many to remember good times. Years & periods indicated are approximates.
You who have been or are still owns of Campwagon Campers are invited to share with us your best memories. In order to do so, simply follow instruction indicated at the “Contact” page. We hope this initiative will be an opportunity for warm and friendly communications for all those who have known the Campwagon effervescence.
We named the theme of this website “Encore” because this word has a different definition in English than in French and these two are perfectly appropriate to our project: in French the word marks the idea of continuity over time and in English a request for an additional performance by a happy crowd.
